Bal Masque
One of the longest-running and most successful of our fundraisers, the Bal Masque is planned and executed on WAAO’s behalf by an outside group which exists for the purpose of raising money for the agency! The event is called Bal Masque and is a Mardi Gras styled event featuring skits and musical numbers around a different theme every year. There are marvelous costumes, and beads galore. The group who puts on this gala production every year is the Mystic Krewe of the Druids. This has become a very popular event in February. The years Bal Masque was held on Feb. 2, 2008 at the Bama Theater in downtown Tuscaloosa and was a smashing success.
The “Chair-ity” Auction
Another popular fundraiser is the“Chair-ity” This auction features original works of art and crafts in some configuration or variation of a chair. Local artists and craftsmen, or just plain creative folks make and donate their pieces to WAAO. The live auction is held in an elegant venue with a lavish buffet. The auction is held in late August.
A Night on Broad-WAAO
This event celebrates the theater both at home and on Broadway. For this event, we auction 12 Broadway show posters signed by the entire casts of the plays. You can always expect a performance by Theater Tuscaloosa. In years past, this event has featured not only the play, but also a buffet, wine, dessert, and a silent auction.
Annual Letter
We send an Annual Letter to people who have supported WAAO in the past. This letter is sent out late November/early December. To join this list click here.
